Genuine question: Are we *sure* hyper-growth at all costs is the only viable path for early-stage startups? I feel like so many founders are chasing vanity metrics instead of building sustainable, profitable businesses from day one. It feels like a recipe for burnout and ultimately, failure, when that VC well dries up. Change my mind.

This is a crucial question. The data strongly suggests that focusing solely on acquisition without a corresponding retention strategy leads to a leaky bucket. For instance, studies consistently show that acquiring a new customer can cost 5x more than retaining an existing one, making sustainable growth inherently tied to LTV.
