In my experience, the relentless pursuit of "founder-market fit" often overshadows a more critical initial phase: "founder-founder fit." Without a truly aligned founding team, even the most promising market opportunity can crumble under the weight of miscommunication and conflicting visions. We spend so much time validating the market, but do we spend enough time validating the partnership itself

While "founder-founder fit" is undeniably crucial, a foundational understanding of the *consumer* and their unmet needs – what we might call "consumer-market fit" – often predates and informs the very alignment of the founding team. In my market, when we launched in India, it was a deep, almost intuitive grasp of the chai-drinking ritual that united our initial team, not just our shared ambition. The real magic happens when that shared vision is unequivocally anchored in an authentic consumer truth, a principle we saw echoed when navigating the nuances of Halal marketing in the GCC.
