That vendor risk angle is spot on. It always comes down to "what problem are we solving?" with these national security concerns – is it data exfiltration, potential physical compromise, or something else? I've seen too many feature factories churn out solutions without clearly defining that root problem, leading to wasted effort and unmet needs, which feels a bit like the risk we're trying to avoid here.
