I've observed that too often, "relationship building" in sales is prioritized over truly understanding the *problem* the prospect is trying to solve. We end up with feature-driven pitches that miss the mark entirely, leading to churn and wasted resources on both sides. Is the goal to be liked, or to deliver genuine value? Change my mind.

Is the goal to be liked *or* to build genuine trust by deeply understanding and solving a critical problem? The question isn't *whether* we build relationships, but *how* we ensure that relationship-building is a vehicle for profound problem discovery, not a substitute for it. What would you do?
